The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued an urgent call for humanitarian aid to be allowed into Gaza due to the rapidly deteriorating situation on the ground.

Despite setting up supplies at the Rafah border crossing with Egypt, the WHO has not been permitted to enter Gaza at this time.

WHO officials have stressed that denying access to aid is a violation of human rights and international humanitarian law.

"More than 2 million people in Gaza remain under siege, cut off from all aid including water, food and fuel supplies and deprived of their most basic human rights. This situation is a stark example of injustice and is in violation of international human rights law and international humanitarian law." Dr. Ahmed Al-Mandhari said.
