WHO declares monkeypox global health emergency

Monkeypox has been declared a global health emergency - the highest alert level - by the World Health Organisation.

Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said there had been more than 16,000 cases of the disease reported to the WHO from 75 countries, and five deaths.
