White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan are expected to hold a press briefing on Monday.
The briefing comes two days after President Joe Biden said U.S. government personnel had been evacuated from Sudan. Secretary of State Antony Blinken also said the same day that operations at the U.S. embassy in Khartoum had been "temporarily suspended."
The evacuation came following a week of heavy fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, which has left hundreds dead and thousands wounded. Even with a ceasefire during the Eid-al-Fitr holiday, fighting still raged over the weekend.
