Republican Rep. Liz Cheney lost her spot as House Conference Chair on Wednesday when a majority of the caucus voted to remove her from leadership as she continued to push back against former president Donald Trump's ongoing unfounded claims about the 2020 presidential election results.

Liz Cheney, the daughter of former vice-president Dick Cheney, is well known both inside and outside the party, and even after voting to impeach Trump earlier this year, she survived a vote by fellow lawmakers to remove her from leadership. But as Trump continued to tout unfounded claims of widespread election fraud, Cheney pushed back and in turn lost allies including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.

The GOP is now looking to replace her with Rep. Elise Stefanik, who has a less conservative voting record but has shown fealty to Trump. As Reggie Cecchini reports, Cheney's ousting may have cemented the GOP as the party of Trump.
