Mohalla clinics that have been central to the Aam Aadmi party's welfare model are under the scanner. Delhi LG V K Saxena has sought a CBI investigation into an alleged scam involving fake lab tests and fake patients at the Delhi government-run Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinics and referred the matter to the agency. What has emerged is that lakhs of fake pathology and radiology tests were allegedly conducted on non-existent patients at the Mohalla Clinics and payments were made to private labs in the name of referrals as part of the alleged scam. Now in the face of these allegations, we ask what can be done to ensure public services such as Mohalla Clinics are free from the harsh reality of over-invoicing, and also that the wrongdoers are held accountable.
