The Supreme Court on Friday overturned decades of federal protection for abortion access. In the ruling that found that a Mississippi law banning most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy is constitutional, the previous protections afforded under the case Roe v. Wade are effectively overturned. The U.S. will now see a patchwork of laws with some states limiting or banning abortion all together, and others protecting access to the procedure. The PBS NewsHour’s John Yang reported on what comes next, including that several companies, including Disney, among others, have said they will help pay for their employees abortion care, if they need to travel to another state to access the procedure.
