At least eight people, including four women, drowned and several others went missing after they were swept away in the Mal river due to flash floods during idol immersion on Vijayadashami in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district on Wednesday (October 5, 2022). The incident took place around 8.30 pm when hundreds of people gathered on the banks of the Mal river to participate in the immersion ceremony.

भूटान से अचानक आए पानी ने बुधवार को पश्चिम बंगाल में तबाही मचा दी. दुर्गा विसर्जन के दौरान जलपाईगुड़ी की माल नदी में बहाव तेज हो जाने से दर्जनों लोग बह गए, जिसमें बाद में 8 लोगों के शव बरामद हुए. काफी लोग अब भी लापता हैं. इस घटना का दिल दहला देने वाला वीडियो वायरल हो रहा है.
