U.S. President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a 10-year bilateral security agreement on Thursday to strengthen Ukraine's defence against Russia.

Biden highlighted the United States' commitment to ensuring Ukraine's ability to defend itself and deter future aggression.

Biden added, "I'm very pleased to share that this week, the G7 signed a plan to finalize and unlock $50 billion in the proceeds of those frozen assets. To put that money to work for Ukraine and other reminder that to Putin, we're not backing down. In fact, we're standing together against this illegal aggression."

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy described the security deal signed with the U.S. as the "strongest agreement" since his country's independence in 1991. "Today is a truly historic day," he said and expressed gratitude for President Biden's leadership in securing the $50 billion loan for Ukraine, calling it a vital step forward in providing sustainable support for the country in its conflict.
