"We will not leave": Gazans question Israeli evacuation leaflets amid military barrage

After weeks of military firepower against Gaza, Israel dropped leaflets from the sky to citizens of the war-torn strip warning them to evacuate the north immediately.

Despite the alerts and consistent bombardment — triggered by an unprecedented attack on Israel by Hamas on Oct. 7 — some Gazans are refusing to leave.

“This is our land, and our great grandparents’ land, we will not give up on it, even if our blood runs dry,” said displaced Palestinian Mohamed Haneya on Tuesday.

The mass ousting has left survivors in overcrowded and unsanitary camps, leaving them worried about spreading disease, while doctors and medical professionals are suffering from a lack of resources and dwindling supplies.

Though citizens have been migrating southbound, many claim Israel’s attacks are happening in “all of Gaza,” leading them to question the evacuation alerts.

Israel said on Tuesday it had killed dozens of Hamas fighters overnight in strikes on Gaza and indicated that it had no intention of easing its bombardment of the besieged Palestinian enclave. At least 700 Palestinians died overnight in wake of the onslaught.
