Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said Thursday that he approached former President Donald Trump's hush money trial "in the same manner as every other case that comes through the courtroom doors: By following the facts and the law and doing so without fear or favor.”

Trump's guilty verdict marked the first criminal conviction of a former president in U.S. history. The trial focused on payments made by Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen to cover up stories about the then-candidate that could be politically damaging during the 2016 presidential election. Trump was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records.

“The jury has spoken," Bragg said.

Judge Juan Merchan set July 11 as Trump’s sentencing date.
