Sen. Kelly Loeffler, R-Ga., who lost her bid for reelection in a Jan. 5 runoff, rescinded her objection to a Congressional count of electoral votes after a pro-Trump mob stormed the U.S. Capitol.
Some Republicans had planned to object to the vote count in several states, some of them supporting President Donald Trump's false claims of voter fraud in President-elect Joe Biden’s win.
“The fate of this vote is clear,” she said, adding that the violence that transpired at the Capitol forced her to reconsider her opposition.
She added that the integrity of elections need to be protected, and the American people need their faith in the democracy restored.
