Watch live: US VP Kamala Harris kicks off her nationwide "Fight for Reproductive Freedoms" tour

51 years ago today, the landmark abortion rights bill Roe v Wade was passed in the United States. To mark the milestone, US Vice President Kamala Harris is delivering a speech as she kicks off the start of the "Fight for Reproductive Freedoms" tour.

Next, US President Biden will hold with his Task Force on Reproductive Healthcare Access to mark the 51st anniversary.

Roe v Wade refers to the 1973 Supreme Court case that said the government could not prohibit abortions because the constitutional right to liberty includes the right to decide whether to continue a pregnancy.


In June 2022 the Supreme Court overturned the landmark decision.
