Special UN Security Council session requested by Ukraine on protecting its territorial integrity
The territorial integrity of Ukraine is expected to be the focus of the open session, ahead of expected peace talks between Moscow and Kyiv in Turkey this week. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has insisted on the territorial integrity, saying in an address to his country Sunday, “Our priorities in the negotiations are known. Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are beyond doubt. Effective security guarantees for our state are mandatory,” he said. For his part Russian president, Vladimir Putin has avoided stating anything precise about the goals of his invasion, saying only that he wanted to “demilitarize and denazify” but not occupy Ukraine.
