Germany Chancellor Olaf Scholz welcomed his Austrian counterpart Karl Nehammer to discuss the situation in Ukraine and other foreign and European policy issues. Germany and Austria are both strongly dependent on Russian gas and are working to diversify their energy sources.

Coal from Russia will phase out at the end of this year and oil and gas imports may also be reduced, but experts say an immediate phase-out would be possible.
