Skyline of Gaza City after Israel killed three senior commanders of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) group in targeted airstrikes early on Tuesday, May 9.

The Israelian military has said the three men had been responsible for a recent rocket fire towards Israel. A spokesman for the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) described the targets as "kingpin terrorists" and said they were "aware of some collateral" in reference to civilian deaths.

Palestinian health officials have said at least 10 civilians were killed in the strikes, including women, children, and others nearby.
