Sen. JD Vance accepted the Republican nomination for vice president Wednesday night, often invoking his blue-collar upbringing. But in his speech, he also claimed that former President Donald Trump created the strongest ever economy for workers, something PolitiFact's editor-in-chief Katie Sanders and her team rated as false. One specific element of the economy -- the unemployment rate -- reached historic lows during Trump's presidency, but dipped even lower under President Joe Biden, Sanders said.
