Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., commended former DOJ officials at the June 23 hearing for their actions on the Jan. 6 insurrection.

“Mr. Rosen, Mr. Donoghue stayed steadfastly committed to the oath they take as officials in the Department of Justice,” he said. “On Jan. 6 itself they assisted during the attack, while our commander in chief stayed silent. Their bravery is a high moment in the sordid story of what led to Jan. 6. My colleagues and I up here also take an oath. Some of them failed to uphold theirs and instead chose to spread the ‘Big Lie.’”

Kinzinger also said Trump considered offering pardons to a wide range of individuals connected to the president.

The hearing, the fifth of several planned by the Jan. 6 committee, focused on Trump’s pressure on the Department of Justice to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. In the year since its creation, the committee has conducted more than 1,000 interviews, seeking critical information and documents from people witness to, or involved in, the violence that day.
