Former Vice President Joe Biden said if he were president, he would build on the Affordable Care Act by adding a public option in order to provide health care to all Americans.
During the final presidential debate of 2020, Biden said that there is "no way" that President Donald Trump can protect people with preexisting conditions despite his claims that he will while eliminating Obamacare. "All the people with COVID are going to have preexisting conditions. What are they going to do?"
To a follow-up question, Biden said that it's "ridiculous" that critics like President Donald Trump accuse him of promoting socialism with his health care plan "The difference between the president, I think health care is not a privilege. It's a right. Everyone should have the right to have affordable health care. And I am very proud of my plan," Biden said.
The debate took place in Nashville, Tennessee, on Oct. 22 with less than two weeks to go until Election Day.
