Alex Garland’s 'Civil War' casts a dark vision of a United States at war with itself. It's a disturbingly realistic scenario shown through the eyes of some unexpected heroes: war photographers. But how realistic is it? We've brought together some of today's foremost war photographers — impressive individuals who've documented real wars, assassinations, and genocides to break down the movie. They've been shot, bombed, and kidnapped. Their photographs have spurred policy changes, served as evidence in war crimes trials, and were used to justify foreign interventions. One of them is currently risking his life in Gaza. As we dissect the Civil War movie scene by scene, we use it as a springboard to delve into the profound challenges and ethical dilemmas of their profession.
