The first ICC trial addressing the murder and torture of hundreds of thousands of people in Sudan's Darfur region.
A Sudanese militia leader is on trial at the International Criminal Court for atrocities committed nearly 20 years ago in Sudan's Darfur region. Ali Abd-al-Rahman - also known as Ali Kushayb - is suspected to be linked to the Janjaweed armed group. He's been charged with 31 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity. DW's Tomi Oladipo reports.
