Voting has begun for phase 1 of the high-prestige local body elections - the first Kerala amid a pandemic. Five districts, including Thiruvananthapuram, are voting today. The three-phase elections are a show of strength for the state's three key political coalitions – the CPIM-led LDF, the Congress-led UDF and the BJP-led - ahead of the 2021 Assembly elections.
