Volcano erupts in Russia, sending piles of ash into sky

The Bezymianny volcano in Russia’s far eastern Kamchatka region has erupted and sent a column of ash high into the sky. The amount of ash produced by the volcano covered an area of around 10 kilometers.
Bezymianny is one of 29 active volcanoes in Kamchatka. The last time it erupted was March 2019.
