Early Friday, after 14 hours of debate, Vice President Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote on President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief plan. The plan aims to provide relief when extra unemployment assistance and other pandemic aid measures expire in March. The bill made it through the Senate without Republican support, requiring the vice president to cast her first tie-breaking vote. The budget will head back to the House, which will need to approve the Senate’s latest changes.
