It looks like another Metro Vancouver bus strike has been averted as the two sides involved say they have accepted mediator Vince Ready’s recommendations. Some 300,000 public transit users were preparing for another possible strike on Saturday.

CUPE 4500 members have been on strike since Jan. 6, when they began an overtime ban. That escalated last week to a 48-hour shutdown of the Coast Mountain bus and SeaBus networks.

The bus company said previously the union is demanding a 25 per cent pay rise which it called unreasonable, while the union says Coast Mountain tried to bully it in the negotiations.

Global's Travis Prasad reports.
