United States President Joe Biden arrives in Vietnam on Sunday for his first visit to the country as the two nations look to elevate their regional alliance.

They are expected to announce plans for greater economic cooperation.

But the US is also looking to bring its former enemy closer at a time of rising regional tensions with China.
