A police officer has been exposed to fentanyl during a hit-and-run drugs test.

The deputy was testing drugs when he started to feel lightheaded and shaky and could not feel his arms or legs. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is up to 50 times stronger than heroin.

The officer was given two doses of naloxone (Narcan) which is used to rapidly reduce the effects of opioids. He was then taken to hospital where he was treated and released.
