A US military ship has fired warning shots at Iranian naval vessels in the Gulf, accusing the Iranian vessels of coming close to American ships in international waters.
Washington says three boats from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps came within about 60 metres of the USS Firebolt.
The confrontation came as talks continue in Vienna on bringing the US and Iran back into the 2015 nuclear accord.
