Many countries have set green targets to move from petrol to electric cars but the change could see a dramatic increase in mining.

That is because lithium is essential in the production of electric car batteries and a key metal in the manufacturing process.

Environmentalists and native people cannot agree on whether a new rush for the so-called "white gold" should be supported or fiercely opposed.
