A rare US judicial inquiry will begin on Monday into how African American Eric Garner died as he said: "I can't breathe" under the chokehold of a New York police officer seven years ago.
Garner's case led to a national movement against police violence in the US.
The hearing will proceed online but Garner's mother wants to actually attend in person, saying she had for years demanded more information on the circumstances of his death.
Al Jazeera's Gabriel Elizondo reports from New York, the US.
