The inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden will look like no other, thanks to a once-in-100-years pandemic, security arrangements triggered by the worst raid on the US Capitol since 1814 and a boycott by the sitting US president.
Instead of usual 200,000 invites, just 1,070 will be issued for members of Congress and one guest; along with the VIPs who will include all living former presidents except for 96-year-old Jimmy Carter.
Vice President Mike Pence says he will attend. However, the incumbent, Donald Trump, says he will not.
Following the ceremony, and a military review, Biden will travel to Arlington National Ceremony with the former presidents, to lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier; before being escorted to the White House by a military guard.
