US federal authorities have executed a woman for the first time in almost 70 years.
Judges overturned a stay of execution for Lisa Montgomery. She was convicted of killing a heavily pregnant woman and cutting the baby from her womb in 2004.
The child survived.
Montgomery's lawyers pleaded for clemency, saying she suffered from mental illnesses following years of abuse.
