UPDATE: Despite the earlier announcement, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has said the office is still completing its certification. His office issued a correction, reversing the confirmation of completion, and Raffensperger said he expects the certification to be completed later Friday.
Georgia’s Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said in a news conference Friday that “numbers don’t lie” after the state finished ballot recount and decided to certify the election for president-elect Joe Biden.
"I live by the motto that numbers don't lie. As secretary of state, I believe that the numbers that we have presented today are correct." He said.
U.S. President-elect Joe Biden was declared the winner of Georgia Thursday after a statewide manual recount confirmed his narrow lead over President Donald Trump in the presidential race.
However, Secretary Raffensperger said he will work on legislation to improve voters' trust in the mail-in electoral system after the historic first statewide audit reaffirmed that “the state’s new secure paper ballot voting system accurately counted and reported results.”
