New Yorkers lined up in massive numbers early on Saturday, Oct. 24, on the first day of early voting in the state for the U.S. presidential election.
Outside Madison Square Garden many voters said they were excited to cast their ballots, with some saying they felt it was more secure than mail-in voting.

"You know, there are different options to vote - I really wanted to do it in person and I'm really excited and there are several days of early voting and I wanted to come on the first day and there's something about going in person and filling it out myself that I feel is secure," said one voter, David Bruce.

New York said last week it would deploy additional police officers in case of any problems at polling locations or throughout the city.

More than 50 million Americans have already cast ballots for either U.S. President Donald Trump or his rival, former vice-president Joe Biden in the election with 10 days to go in the campaign, a pace that could lead to the highest voter turnout in over a century, according to data from the U.S. Elections Project.
