The U.S. election has reinforced how politically divided America remains. Political opponents should not be enemies and yet, south of the border that is too often the case.

While the gap between the two political sides can feel huge, there is also hope that those divisions can be mended.

Heather Yourex-West spoke to Americans who said building unity is how they hope to close the political divide, and foster communication and cooperation.
