US election: Georgia official says audit of results expected to be complete next week

Georgia's voting system implementation manager Gabriel Sterling on Thursday spoke about the audit into the presidential election results, adding it is expected to be done by next week.

He went on to dismiss suggestions the re-tallying was being done at President Donald Trump's insistence, stressing "if it was 14,000 votes the other way, we would be doing the exact same thing," and said they chose to audit the presidential election in an effort to instill confidence in the election.

Sterling also criticized the ongoing misinformation and conspiracies regarding the vote, including claims of voter fraud, calling them "hoaxes" and "nonsense" and urged people not to believe them.
