US election: Biden names additional cabinet picks, administration officials

U.S. president-elect Joe Biden on Friday named several cabinet nominees and other top administration officials as Inauguration Day inches closer.

Biden named some "familiar faces" and some new people in their roles, including Tom Vilsack, former agriculture secretary under former president Barack Obama, to return to the same position in his administration. Susan Rice, Obama's former national security adviser, will also be part of the Biden administration as the director of the White House Domestic Policy Council.

Katherine Tai, who oversaw trade enforcement for China during Obama's tenure, was his nominee for U.S. trade representative, and Denis McDonough was named as his nominee for Veterans Affairs secretary.

Ohio congresswoman Marcia Fudge was also tapped as Biden's pick for housing and urban development.
