A US National is believed to be in custody, after crossing into North Korea without authorisation. That's according to the United Nations Command that jointly oversees the Demilitarized Zone at the inter-Korean border. The unnamed individual, who is reported to be a US soldier, was on a tour at the time, and is understood to have made a dash for the border during a visit to the Pan-mun-jom truce village. The US State Department advises Americans not to enter North Korea due to the serious risk of arrest and long term detention.

For more on this, we talk to DW’s Washington correspondent Stefan Simons and to Kim Yeon-seung, journalist from the South Korean capital, Seoul.
