The former chiefs of security at the US Capitol have told Senators they could not be blamed for the January 6 security breakdowns, saying they did not have the intelligence, training or equipment needed.
Two Senate panels are investigating the failures that led to the attack by former President Donald Trump's supporters and the deaths of five people.
But they admitted to having access to a report days before the attack warning that some groups were planning violence.
