The battle between political parties is being fought for 403 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh. The Samajwadi Party and the Rashtriya Lok Dal are eyeing Muslim and Jat votes, which constitute about 44 per cent of the total votes. In western UP, there are 25 percent Scheduled Caste voters, which Mayawati's party BSP is eyeing.
