The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on Tuesday that Russian and Belarusian athletes will not be participating in the parade of athletes at the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics in July.
In response, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova criticized the decision on Wednesday, calling it "illegitimate, unjust, and unacceptable."
Meanwhile, Tony Estanguet, President of the Paris 2024 Olympics Organizing Committee, justified the decision by stating that the IOC's "logic" did not allow the athletes to be presented as delegations during the opening ceremony.
