Palestinian ambassador demands accountability, Israel claims self-defense, Jordan calls to end collective punishment. UN to vote soon. Riyad Mansour, the Palestinian ambassador, spoke at an emergency session of the UN General Assembly, urging the world to hold Israel accountable for its violations of international law. However, Israel's ambassador, Gilad Erdan, claimed that the country was only at war with Hamas, a genocidal, jihadist terror organization. Jordan's foreign minister called for an end to collective punishment and condemned Israel's actions. As the General Assembly prepares to vote on the resolution, tensions remain high in the region.

Al Jazeera's Gabriel Elizondo has more from the UN headquarters.
