Nicaragua has lost a decades-long maritime border dispute with Colombia over a resource-rich part of the Caribbean Sea.
The International Court of Justice rejected Managua's bid to expand its deep-sea economic rights, beyond a previous ruling that gave it a 380-kilometre (236-mile) zone.
Observers hope it will finally diffuse the long-lived tensions between Colombia and Nicaragua over this part of the sea.
