Israeli security forces dispersed Ultra-Orthodox Jews protesting against the drafting of seminary students into the military near Tel Aviv on Thursday.

Israel's Supreme Court ruled on June 25 that the state must begin drafting ultra-Orthodox Jewish seminary students into the military, potentially causing divisions in Netanyahu's coalition.

"We came here to demonstrate against the high court of Israel who just decided that 63,000 people who learned Torah have to be thrown in the Army. And this is something that we cannot agree to in any kind of circumstances," Rabbi Ephraim Luft said.

Ultra-Orthodox leaders consider exemptions from military service vital for preserving their traditions despite the expiration of the exemption law last year.
