Russia has increased ist attacks across Ukraine to coincide with Victory Day celebrations in Russia. The city of Mykolaiv is on the frontlines of the war in southern Ukraine. It's been hit by Russian attacks time and again since March and is blocking an advance by Moscow's forces towards Odesa.
DW correspondent Mathias Bölinger is embedded with the Ukrainian army on the front line near Mykolaiv, and spoke to residents who've lived through the onslaught.
