Ukraine War: Ukraine given the go-ahead for EU candidacy

Ukraine has been given the nod to join the European Union - providing it can fulfil certain criteria.

European Commission head Ursula Von Der Leyen said "important work" still needs to be done by Kyiv in becoming an official EU candidate.

Ukraine applied to join the EU four days after Russia invaded the country.
