Every inch of territory that is being won and lost in Ukraine's counter-offensive comes at an immense cost to the men on the frontlines.

But the heavy toll is not just being felt on the battlefield.

In homes all over the country families are coming to terms with grief, loss and a future without a cherished son, father or brother.

We have been talking to some of those whose loved ones will never return and to the soldiers whose lives have been changed forever.
