Donald Trump's decision to appoint JD Vance as his running mate will have set alarm bells ringing in Kyiv.

The would-be vice president has previously said "I don't care what's going on in Ukraine" and insisted Trump would force the Ukrainians to the negotiating table, bringing the war to a rapid close.

He also said last week that Britain under Labour could be the first "truly Islamist" country to have nuclear weapons.
