More than 8,000 civilians have been killed in the last year according to the United Nations.

More than 13,000 people are also said to have been injured - although the UN says that the actual figures are likely much higher.

The steady toll grinds on and despite their resistance, Ukrainians say that living with the threat of death is increasingly exhausting.
