Ukrainian authorities reported some residential areas near Odesa, Ukraine, had been struck by Russia missiles early Friday, killing at least 19 people including two children. Officials said the missiles rained down on the village of Serhiivka and hit an apartment building and a resort.
Video captured the charred remains of buildings, including an apartment block, following the reported strike.
In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on lawmakers and government officials to take the steps necessary to help the country join the European Union.
Russia, however, has denied allegations Russian missiles struck an apartment building near Odesa, saying that the Russian Armed Forces "do not work with civilian targets."
