Ukraine crisis: billionaires & banks sanctioned after Russia ‘invasion’

Banks and billionaires have been targeted by the West after Russian troops entered rebel-held regions in Ukraine and Vladimir Putin said he would recognise their independence

The Russian leader left the international community perplexed and dumbfounded when he announced last night that he would recognise the independence of the break away regions of eastern Ukraine, amid a tirade that questioned the right of Ukraine to even exist.

In reaction today, the British, Europeans and the Americans have hit back with sanctions. President Putin this evening added further pressure by hinting that Crimea, annexed in 2014, should be recognised as part of Russia.
